Seems Barry McGuire was right...

Wow, how things have changed since my last post! The world seems to be at the precipice with 1,000 years of civilisation about to crumble. Worse than that, its okay to be a racist, bigoted arsehole again.

So, when the shit hits the fan, what can a reasonable person do to place themselves in the best possible situation, post-event?

Survival tips:

1/. The news lies (or is so biased it can no longer be trusted) and pretty much all media outlets are geared toward using the fear created by the media to get you to waste your time and resources on shit you don't need. Ignore the internet. ignore the news. Trust only what you can experience or reason for yourself to be true.

2/. Don't stockpile guns and shit like that. Ammo will run out pretty quickly when the industrial machine grinds to a halt. Train, get fit and healthy and learn some basic self defence. Don't get bogged down in trying to ensure you can protect yourself, cos there will always be a bigger guy with more friends and bigger guns.

3/. The demise of civilisation is gonna be pretty harrowing when everything we relied on before breaks down. As such, get yourself centred, spiritually, and learn what is important, rather than chasing the same empty dreams or running from the same illusory fears as all the other cretins.

4/. Find like-minded people you can trust and work together. Be picky with whom you associate, though. These are the people who will be watching your back.

Paid to Surf websites - The Redux

Wondering how I could earn myself a few extra quid, I took another look at some websites that claim to help you earn hundreds of pounds by simply filling in a few websites or clicking links.

I'd had previous experience of this kind of thing from quite a few years ago. Needless to say the experience wasn't great. I thought that the industry might have pulled its finger out, though.

How wrong I was.

I signed myself up to "20Cogs" (https://20cogs.co.uk) - utter tripe from start to finish. Only got as far as registering myself for two paid tasks. First website crapped out before I could complete the assigned task (registering and then answering a survey - question 3 of the survey wouldn't submit - error cleverly appearing after I'd registered).

Second website/mission was a similar task. Register on a site and then complete a survey. Again, I got as far as the survey. Five stars represented my progress along the survey. However, no matter how many offers I did or didn't sign up for, the progress of my survey got no further than 4/5 stars complete. Essentially, a blatant con.

The pay to surf industry is still the realm of charlatans. Don't have anything to do with it - avoid at all costs!

New Ice Hockey Blog - Maelstrom

Well, I went and did it! I created myself another millstone for my neck. Another corner of the internet for me to ignore, forget about and generally struggle to find posts for.

Maelstrom is a rather pretentiously-titled blog following the Elite Ice Hockey League team, Manchester Storm. And, to a lesser extent, British Ice Hockey in general.

Not too much left of this season left to go, so I'd better get posting there. And here. And the other blogs I write, too.

Overestimating my own productivity

I am harbouring plans for a new blog. Despite the fact that I already administer around half a dozen or so and only a couple of those see posts at all frequently.

I am a big fan of Manchester Storm, our local Elite Ice Hockey League team. And, of course, ice hockey itself. I tend to keep tabs on a team or two from both the NHL and the Swedish Elitserien and Allsvenskan leagues.

An ice hockey blog could be a good thing for me. I often forget to post in my regular blogs, but with icehockey, I will at least have something to say at least a couple of times a week. Most teams play around two games a week - a home match and an away game.

Watch this space for a link soon. Hopefully.

Fell on Black Days - Soundgarden

Whatsoever I've feared has come to life
Whatsoever I've fought off became my life
Just when everyday seemed to greet me with a smile
Sunspots have faded and now I'm doing time
Now I'm doing time
'Cause I fell on black days
I fell on black days

Whomsoever I've cured, I've sickened now
And whomsoever I've cradled, I've put you down
I'm a search light soul they say
But I can't see it in the night

I'm only faking when I get it right
When I get it right

'Cause I fell on black days
I fell on black days

How would I know
That this could be my fate?
How would I know
That this could be my fate? Yeah

Uh, uh, uh
Uh, uh, uh
Uh, uh, uh

So what you wanted to see good
Has made you blind
And what you wanted to be yours
Has made it mine

Don't you lock up something
That you wanted to see fly
Hands are for shaking
No, not tying, no, not tying

I sure don't mind a change
I sure don't mind a change
Yeah, I sure don't mind, sure don't mind a change
I sure don't mind a change

'Cause I fell on black days
I fell on black days

How would I know
That this could be my fate?
How would I know
That this could be my fate?

How would I know
That this could be my fate?
How would I know
That this could be my fate?

I sure don't mind a change

Strange days have found us...

Been offered a business opportunity/job and the junkie guy across the road has just been taken in an ambulance.
